Thoughts I Had...While Looking at the Poster for "Miss Julie"

Presented in the order they appeared without self-censorship...

img src

Audrey Hepburn inGreen Mansions(but better dressed which is weird to say about anything Audrey)

That neck purse looks very uncomfortable

Oh how cute, all three starsareGolden Globe winners.

I hate when Cate Blanchett chops Samantha Morton's head off in 'Elizabeth: Full Throttle'

That's a pretty wide stance...is she running?Doesn't the whole play take place in a kitchen? The posters already panicking "open it up.open it up"

Period frizz is the enemy: See also La Pfeiff in that age that was innocent.

Liv Ullman is flawless in Bergman movies.I did see her last directorial gigFaithless(2000) and I liked it as an actor's showcase but not more than that.

Green is my favorite co-- no,second favorite color.Purple.

I wish this were directed by Jane Campion but then she's always the first choice with ladies in bulky dresses out in the elements

This is the French poster to your left.Which to prefer?

Redheads are so hot right now.If Ariel were alive and still had her legs she'd probably compete for Isla Fisher and Amy Adams's parts. But not for Jess's.

I saw a play with Sienna Miller once calledAfter Miss Juliewhich is just basicallyMiss Juliefor Brits instead of Swedes with some politics. So I've never understood why there's another one.But then I've never seenMiss Julieperformed and am no expert on it.And this has Jessica Chastain so level up.

I forgot to say anything aboutColin Farrell.

I am sort of fixated on your phrase PERIOD FRIZZ - I'm trying to figure out what medication that would be a side-effect from.

Had no idea this movie was being produced by the HFPA.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterJordan

I can't help but think she's walking (skipping?) with an imaginary friend the way her arm is draped over a shoulder that isn't there.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterErik Anderson

Elizabeth: The Golden Age or: How did this get Blanchett nominated over HBC (Sweeney Todd),Jenna Fischer (Walk Hard),Charlize Theron (In the Valley of Elah (not great, and I'm sure there's better perfs to single out (though 07's crop was otherwise sterling really. They easily could have missed The Savages, for example),but it's still better than tossing a major nom at Elizabeth: Full Throttle)) and ESPECIALLY Amy Adams (Enchanted)?(Yes,I know two of those were light comedies, but they were all trying something new and were working with scripts that weren't brain dead and over-filled.)

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

Screw Colin Farrell.

The Color Purple is now your favorite color?I guess you're uninterested in pissing God off.

Chastain is my favorite living American actress.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

Whoa.Ever since I first saw this poster I thought she was sitting on a swing, but she's totally NOT.My thoughts on the poster are various incoherent squeals and SO EXCITED murmurs.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterHannahlily

Cautiously excited for this.I'm rarely interested in actors directing, but Liv Ullman is one hell of an actor, and I've been in need of a good period piece lately.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterTB

@Volvagia It still pains me that Adams didn't get in.If Disney had a clue how to campaign,I feel like it would've been an easy get.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterJordan

Elizabeth: Full Throttle--hehe

La Chastain looks fabulous. Can't wait for this one. That first poster is The One.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered Commenterbrookesboy

I prefer the French poster definitely.Looks like a classic painting or something.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterFilmdr

Kinda reminds me of the poster for Samantha Morton's River Queen, especially the text/font

Couple of years ago I saw Juliette Binoche in Miss Julie on stage & it's one of the best production I have ever seen. This is one of my favorite stage role for an actress. In my opinion it's right up there with Blanche Dubois & Lady Macbeth.Very exited about this film!

June 6,2014 | Unregistered Commenterstjeans

"If Ariel was alive and had legs.":) haha awesome. If Prince Eric were alive, and slightly smarter,he'd definitely approve.

Jose - win!

June 6,2014 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

The French poster is miles better! The American one, withi that pose and frizz, makes Chastain look like the understudy who's rehearsing Margaret Hamilton's role in The Wizard of Oz.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterBill_the_Bear

Paul,I love you.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterNathanielR

The DP on this film is Mikhael Krichman (shot all of Zvyagintsev's projects),so I suspect this will be significantly more cinematic than Ullmann's prior work.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterKate

To me this poster screams live action sequel to Brave. Her taste in dresses has not changed.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered Commentereurocheese

Kate -- ooh,good to know.

June 6,2014 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

I didn't know what the play was about, but googled it and it sounds interesting.these posters are weak though.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered Commentermarcelo

♥ Happy Birthday (again),Nathaniel!♥

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Outlaw

I love it how "Elizabeth: The Golden Age"has aged so well;not only do I hear more and more people liking it but the IMDb rating has in fact gone up.

I have high expectations for Miss Julie.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterYavor

Miss Julie in the Wild and surrounded by Golden Globes statuettes?French poster.

June 6,2014 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

Hmmm...the pose is awkward, but at least it's interesting. The French poster is kinda boring.

And happy birthday!

June 6,2014 | Unregistered Commenterthefilmjunkie

I see Disney has gone and done a live action version of Brave.

June 7,2014 | Unregistered CommenterSanty C.

I like the french poster better, anything to see Chastain's cheekbone really.

June 7,2014 | Unregistered Commentercraver

It is one thing to highlight Golden Globe winner/nominee.But to have the actual statues as boldfaced reminders that they didn't win the Oscars is actually kind of cruel.亚博主页Also, they sure deleted a lot of words for Morton's statue.

June 8,2014 | Unregistered Commenterkin

santy c -- good one.

June 8,2014 | Unregistered CommenterNATHANIEL R

There's also something vaguely 1890s Maya Rudolph pooping in the street in Bridesmaids about it.

June 8,2014 | Unregistered CommenterErik Anderson

June 8,2014 | Unregistered Commenteriggy

She is gorgeous, but I need more Farrell!;)
