Where is this American Sniper podcast??I want to hear!!!

Nick: I also agree Cooper deserves Best Actor (he seconds my ballot after Fiennes).Keaton would make a very fine choice though, and Redmayne just…doesn't bode well at all for me.Such a boring choice.

Um,actually,Adrien Brody did not win BAFTA for The Pianist,Daniel Day-Lewis won BAFTA that year for Gangs of New York...Oh,and I also saw Bayond the Lights a few days ago and really enjoyed it,but the song is definitely the weakest of the five nominees (maybe because the other four are so strong, but Grateful has some really bad lyrics)...

Oh,and on another note, you guys remember that podcast you did last year where you each named your favorite film by each of the Best Durector nominees?I was wondering if you could do that with this year's nominees.I've been going back to Wes Anderson (re-watched Rushmore and The Royal Tennenbaums) and Richard Linklater (watched Dazed & Confused and Waking Life for the first time in my life) films,so I would really love to hear what you guys pick with these.

I never wanted to see Jupiter Ascending at all - but now this. They should just transcribe this podcast and place it on the posters.

Tupper, the other Middleton sister is my favorite laugh line in the podcast.

oh sorry i added the link to the American Sniper conversation...but it was from Katey's podcast Fighting in the War Room

I really hope that Bradley Cooper doesn't win for American Sniper,(no disrespect to Cooper) but I don't want to have to see American Sniper.I want to see American Sniper even less than Katey Rich wants to see Iron Lady.

I am surprised that no one on the panel wanted a pair of hover boots, they look quite interesting.
Btw.Jupiter Ascending is doing better overseas in terms of box office, perhaps they love the hover boots and Eddie Redmayne.(maybe his voice is dubbed)

What a fun podcast! You should do them more often.

I did see Jupiter Ascending on the weekend, and kind of,sort of enjoyed it,but less so that Nat.Redmayne was the star,IMHO,though his languid voice kept making me think of Brando in the Godfather,so that I was waiting for him to make Kunis an offer she couldn't refuse.

LadyEdith...I would like a pair of those boots, for sure!

I can attest to the hover boot love. That's what everybody was discussing most after the premiere screening last week.

I couldn't help but notice (*SPOILER-ish) how similar the ending visuals of Jupiter Ascending and The Matrix are.

I'm a totally self-absorbed person so I loved finding out that Nick Davis also loathes the Warshawskis.

Jupiter Etcetera is a great title,by the way.

@Richter: Thanks for the correction, and for the fantastic suggestion!

@Peggy Sue: To be fair, theyseem pretty great in lots of ways, especially her,but as storytellers who rarely seem to grasp the political foundations of their stories, and who run through colossal budgets in the process,I'm less smitten. At least we'll always haveBound.

This was so much fun!And I JUST saw Jupiter Ascending on a whim a few hours before this podcast debuted so got lucky there as its weirdness was very fresh in my mind.THE BEES.W.T.F.

I,too,am a non-fan of the Wachowskis.I appreciate their ambition 100%,as I said in the Posterized post, and their films always looks lovingly made (Jupiter has some inventive sets, costumes and hair/makeup and the budget for the effects was right there on the screen) but they need to rethink their stories much more before moving to the production phase.I was talking with someone who thinks they would've been *perfect* for the Hunger Games series and I agreed.Something more simple and emotional and character-specific but with their grand world-building they can infuse into it.Plus,it's weird and sci-fi centered and they would've knocked it out of the park, especially that cheap-o first film.

Was kinda hoping you'd do a Sundance episode wrap-up but ah,well.;)

the chatter about the wachowskis directing a nolan script reminds me of this dream i had back in 2010.,when I was being exceptionally disappointed by the flat monochrome dreamscapes of Inception.(the deepest recess of a man's subconscious was represented by a military complex out of a james bond ripoff.like, come on.) I had this idea that each dream layer should have been designed and directed by a different director.like del toro for one, lynch the next layer, and so on.how fun would that have been?

caroline - yes.great solution to keep dreams surreal and to keep you off balance as dreams always do
