New High-Rise Poster

Manuelhere. Can it really be true that we haven't yet discussedHigh-Risein any depth here at The Film Experience?亚博主页For yes, while we're all avowed actressexuals we sometimes do follow certain actors near and far (takeMr.Ruffalo who were just discussing).Enter Tom Hiddleston, the greatest hat actor of our generation. The fan favorite Marvel actor has yet to find a property that helps him break out of his Loki role:Crimson Peakhad its fans but it wasn't the hit (or the cult fave) many thought it could be;I Saw the Lightlooks to join the long list of forgettable biopics, andOnly Lovers Left Alivewas a critical hit (it's so good!) but barely made a blip in mainstream moviegoers' radars ($1.9 million gross).

WhileHigh-Rise,Ben Wheatley's filmed adaptation of the J.G.Ballard allegorical novel about class got sort of eviscerated at TIFF ("an ambitious failure,"with "aberrant creative visions"),its marketing department is revving its engines and doing a damn good job of piquing our interest.

After some gorgeousteaserone-sheetsthey've just released the final poster and it's beautifully retro and modern at the same time.(Much better than thoseeye-soars we looked atfor those other 2016 releases last week at least!) And really, how could you go wrong with Hiddlestone in a slick suit,Luke Evans in a pornstache, and Sienna Miller looking like Kate Beckinsale? That's to say nothing of the stylized trailer which, yes, has yourfair share of naked Tomto entice you.Seriously, that minute and fifteen seconds all but call out for aHit Me With Your Best Shot,so full of eye-catching shots, from Tom in that mirrored elevator,to that slo-mo air stewardesses dance break.Take a look for yourself:

But what say you?Any Ballard fans looking forward toHigh-Rise,if only to see Elisabeth Moss on the big screen?

Not so much a Ballard fan,but I'm definitely a Ben Wheatley fan,and I'm really looking forward to this.If past experience is any guide,it'll be great but Americans won't get it at all.Which is OK.

They lost me at 'Sienna Miller'.Which is contemporary code for 'featuring female characters only as an afterthought'.

The fact that she gets billed above Elizabeth Moss tells me all I need to know about this film.

The one sheet is Kubrick the trailer is Kubrick.I'm in!

Matt, the Brits at London Film Fest weren't having any of it either.

Love the poster- the trailer is intriguing

February 22,2016 | Unregistered Commenterjaragon

@goran: Cosign.Nothing makes me want to see a movie less than reading Sienna Miller's name on the poster.

goran, sean diego -- she seems to be one of those performers that the industry is convinced audiences love but whom audiences really don't care about. There are several of those floating about but few as enduring as Sienna!

Sienna has a Robin Wright career without having given a Robin Wright performance, although she has been pretty good in a few things. It hasn't hurt her to look the way actresses have been supposed to look for a hundred years. And at age 34,she can look back on a 15-year film career that shows no sign of slowing down.

February 22,2016 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Outlaw

The poster definitely reminds me of A Clockwork Orange.

I'm in agreement with everyone's thoughts on Sienna Miller. She's not a bad actor, but she has one of the most forgettable faces and I really hate saying that.I guess I just need to be wowed by her for me to remember something other than her name.

I'm happy to see Jeremy Irons working in something other than Batman v.Superman this year.

February 22,2016 | Unregistered CommenterSean Troutman

I guess I'm the only one who kind likes Sienna. The public slut shaming she endured for a few years was gross and it helps that my first 3 experiences with her as an actress were also my favorites. She's legitimately really good in Interview,The Edge of Love, and Factory Girl despite the movies themselves having quite a few other issues. She hasn't been given a role as interesting since, but seems to be making pretty interesting choices lately.

February 22,2016 | Unregistered CommenterDrewB

But Sean, don't you love Irons in theBvS:DoJtrailers? His take on Alfred is one of the things I'm looking forward to.

DrewB: I got nothing against Sienna. However, the only movies of hers that I made a point of seeing wereFactory Girl,AlfieandLayer Cake, and never because of her.

February 22,2016 | Unregistered CommenterPaul Outlaw

Wait, are there other actors in this movie besides A NAKED TOM HIDDLESTON?

February 22,2016 | Unregistered CommenterHustler

Couldn't care less about Sienna Miller (she's fine, don't hate her - well,I kinda hated her in "American Sniper,"but I think that was more the writing of her character),but OM!@#$^&*G TOM HIDDLESTON.That is all.

Oh,and good to see Elisabeth Moss get more film work, too.

February 22,2016 | Unregistered Commenterlylee

Paul Outlaw: Eh.In this movie, there's no way Alfred doesn't amount to a cameo. The moment they have Wonder Woman in an "awesome"(air quotes so necessary there) growly pose holding a sword and not,I dunno,THE LASSO OF TRUTH,is basically everything wrong with the character right now. She's basically NEEDED an extreme level (how extreme?Everything but the iconic costume and the lasso thrown out extreme.) remake for 30-50 years and no one at DC has had the balls to commit to that.

February 22,2016 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

I saw this film.I ADORED it.Sienna Miller is actually good. The MVP is actually (and to my own surprise) Luke Evans. The Portishead cover of Abba's "S.O.S."is PURE GOLD.
