Congrats to the MacArthur Genius Grant Winners.
The 24 recipients for 2017 have been named who will each receive the grant of $625,000 which is a lot of change formostwriters and artists and performers.Celebrities of course make truckloads of money but that's much different than toiling away for your craft in most arts careers.Twenty four recipients from many different kinds of field were chosen so let's just list those in the arts: Annie Baker (playwright),Rhiannon Giddens (musician),Taylor Mac (performance artist ♥︎),Yuval Sharon (opera producer),Tyshawn Sorey (composer),and Jesmyn Ward (writer)

I don't recall learning any mythology in school but maybe it just did not interest me.Prior to the Marvel movies,I knew that Thor was Norse god of thunder but did not know word Ragnarok.I am not planning any research prior to seeing the movie. My nephew was really into mythology when he was about 10 years old,I assume it was mentioned in school and then he borrowed books from the library.

Mythology should be taught in school and they could easily made relevant to 21st century children because they are the inspiration for so many comic books and movies.

I am all in for a Carla Gugino vehicle (just saying that makes me smile).

I love Carla Gugino (since Troop Beverly Hills,y'all!),but her career has been such a head-scratcher.I mean, she co-stars in big-budget blockbusters (Night at the Museum,San Andreas, etc.) so is probably a multi-millionaire at this point;yet she seems like a character actress at heart, which explains her detours into character-driven TV (like Karen Cisco,Political Animals) and plays. Her continued success as a journey(wo)man actress is inspiring.
