Oscar doubles- trivia on all the two-timers

"Winslet could easily wins a second one in the right project/role.Think about how close she comes for Steve Jobs. The other one is Viola Davis in Lead.I think everyone in Hollywood would vote if she is nomed again."-Patrick

"Still mystified why Jodie and Jessica won two and then … television (Jessica) or nothing much else (Jodie)." -Faye

Beauty Break: Michelle Pfeiffer for Interview Magazine

We knew 2017 would be a big comeback year for our beloved and much missedMichelle Pfeiffer, with multiple films on the way. What we didn't know was that the press would start this early and emphatically to herald her return or that she'd be doing interviews since she's stingy with the press.

So it is with great pleasure we share the news that she's the cover girl for Interview magazine's April cover with a glorious sensual photo shoot by Mikael Jansson.Michelle turns 59 in one month and she's still got it...

More photos by Jansson and a wonderful interview by Darren Aronofsky, who directed her in the forthcomingMother,atInterview's official site. The best news about the interview is she admits that she was so picky that she basically became unhirable and now that she's officially an empty nester she's excited to be working in full force again.

This is my favorite (self-deprecating) part.

I was thinking today,"Why do I hate being interviewed so much?[Aronofsky laughs] How can I explain this to poor Darren who has to do this dastardly interview with me?"And I think it may be that I have this constant fear that I'm a fraud and that I'm going to be found out. It's true.I just got this e-mail from Steve Kloves who wrote and directedThe Fabulous Baker Boys[1989],and he said,"How's it going onMurder on the Orient Express?"which I just finished with Kenneth Branagh. And I said,"Oh,you know me.I feel like I'm ruining his movie."Because the first week into shootingBaker Boys,I said the same thing to Steve: "I think I'm doing a terrible job in this."

Thinking she was terrible inFabulous Baker Boys!?!Can you imagine? It's only one of the most bewitching performances of its entire decade.

So glad the buzz is starting early, any chance she can snag a supporting nod for Murder on the Orient Express.

I suppose itdepends on Mother and category placements, she looks stunning,so in 2017 your dream came true,Pfieffer working and eager to do so.

She's a delicate actress that the camera loves and understands like Grace Kelly and Bergman.Saw Casablanca two days ago and when Sam sings As Time Goes By the camera stays in Bergman and while she is in silence you can see her thinking and remembering the past love. She says nothing till Bogart appears. You see how the camera loves Bergman as does with some actresses who doesn't need much like Grace Kelly,Marilyn Monroe,Lauren Bacall and Michelle. And think that she's a gifted actress, but even if she wasn't,the camera loves her.And a sexy blonde when Hollywood didn't care much about this commodity so valious in other decades.

How exciting.I am actually anticipating Mother because of Pfeiffer.Good luck!

Long live Michelle Pfeiffer. Her modesty makes all the more likable.

I know no one asked me but here are my favorite Pfeiffer performances ranked:
1) White Oleander
2) Batman Returns
3) Frankie & Johnny
4) The Fabulous Baker Boys
5) The Age of Innocence

And there's so much more to love in The Deep End of the Ocean,A Thousand Acres,Married to the Mob,The Witches of Eastwick,Russia House, and many more.

That one of her in the purple dress, with the thigh-highs and red shoes.I love it so.

Every single interview I've ever read from interview magazine always ends so abruptly.I'm constantly refreshing or checking for a second page because I'm sure I've missed something.Good interview though.

Damn....she's still got it.

I really want to see Where is Kyra? What is happening with that?!She and Keifer Sutherland got strong reviews out of Sundance. You'd think a niche art house distributor like IFC Films or A24 would pick it up.

Based on the brief description that Michelle gave about her role in Mother!,it sounds like a winner! Also,I love that she seems to be still in touch with Steve Kloves.I honestly think "The Fabulous Baker Boys"is in dire need of a sequel.I would love to see Susie Diamond still singing in lounge bars. That would be interesting

"Michelle Pfeiffer—very rare where beauty and that much talent come together."Darren quoted his professor and that's when Darren became Michelle fan.....cool

Those pictures are stunning. That last shot is adorable.

And whoa, yeah, that interview did end abruptly.

I love hearing those "almost/miss"stories of Hollywood casting, like with Bugsy and Batman Returns. So fascinating.

Gagging.Seriously.Love this so much.
Where did the Annette Benning reference come from though? Was Annette originally meant to do Mother?

March 29,2017 | Unregistered CommenterJB

One of my favourite actresses. But they could/should do better with the magazine cover.

March 29,2017 | Unregistered CommenterFredric

I was confused where the Benning reference came from too.Was she originally attached to Mother?
Super excited for it though.Hope it's a lead role.

Pfeiffer was just saying that she and Bening were interchanging roles a lot back in the day.Pfeiffer was supposed to do Bugsy, but Bening ended up doing it,for whatever reason, and that Bening was supposed to do Catwoman, but she got pregnant,so Pfeiffer ended up with that role.

robert r -- hopefully it was also a reference to how annette bening made far fewer films when she was being a mom but now they're both empty nesters at roughly the same time so hopefully doing a lot of films.
