Wouldn't that be fun if the Oscars picked entirely from this list to PRESENT the awards???亚博主页

I just want to state my worship for Odds Against Tomorrow,a flawless portrait of extremely flawed characters, one black and the other white, without the patronizing politics of Poitier's movies in this era.In this very scene of the photo,a gay man tries to make a pass at Belafonte.

But the main reason I adore this movie is the tiny but absolutely stellar performance by Gloria Grahame, that shares one of the sexiest scenes I've ever seen with Robert Ryan. She gets turned on while he describes what it feels like to kill a person.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece.

Hi!Thanks so much for this list.Could you possible add in Jerry Maren? He's the munchkin who gave Dorothy the big lollipop (one of the three in the Lollipop Guild) -- I'd say definitely a big screen star! He's 98 and the last living adult munchkin from the film.I was very much surprised to find he's still alive!

This is one of my favorite features on this website.Thank you!

I love so many of these survivors.I hope they stay with us for a long time.(Looks like my favorite Ellen Burstyn has a great part coming this summer - she plays Laura Dern's mother in the very acclaimed The Tale, which is coming to HBO after premiering at Sundance.)

❤️ ‘em!

Boy,1930 sure was a banner year for stacked, legendary talents (not that 1931-32 didn't yield a very fine bumper crop as well).

This list always makes me feel guilty about all the classics I still haven't seen: The Bad and the Beautiful,Marnie,The Human Comedy,The Pajama Game,The Barefoot Contessa,The Last Picture Show,The French Connection.

Eva Marie Saint is so beautiful and underrated. The fact that she did not receive an Oscar nomination for "A hatful of rain"is a crime.

All worthy of inclusion on this great list!

This list came to mind when list topper Connie Sawyer passed away in January at 105 so I'm very happy to see it updated!

A few weeks ago I saw Mary Carlisle as the female lead in an early (1938) Bing Crosby picture called Doctor Rhythm that also costarred Beatrice Lillie. It wasn't that great a flick but worth it for all the familiar faces and Bing was in fine voice.

Long may Olivia de Havilland stay with us!

I read Lee Grant's biography last year, the career hell that woman went through is appalling but she toughed it out and she's a great actress.Speaking of bios I'm in the middle right now of Baby Peggy/Diana Serra Cary's book about her childhood and that of other kid performers called Hollywood's Children.Fascinating and troubling by turns.Another terrific book by someone else on this list is Kaye Ballard's hysterical comic memoir "How I Lost 10 Pounds in 53 Years!"

Marsha Hunt is such a fantastic underrated talent.I've seen a lot of her work and don't recall her ever being bad or hammy.

So nice to see that both Doris Day & Janis Paige are still with us and the same age since Janis headlined Doris first film Romance on the High Seas and in no time she had usurped Janis's spot. The vagaries of show biz.

It's always odd when you discover that two people who seem from different eras like Ann Blyth and Earl Holliman are the same age.To me she's classic 40's/50's cinema and he's 70's/80's television even though I've seen some of his early films.

Great list!!Hopefully it won't be too diminished next year.

I think that including American soap actors on this list (Peggy McCay,Constance Towers & John Aniston) lowers the tone. How can they be compared to Olivia de Havilland,Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall? And if soap actors are to be included, how about those in long-running British soaps like William Roache or June Brown?Either all or none please.

September 1,2018 | Unregistered CommenterJames

James, you are so right about George Maharis. He was amazing in Sylvia which I saw as a young man and have never forgotten. He is also one of the few openly gay actors over the age of 70,particularly now that Tab Hunter has gone.I guess that Nathaniel's just not aware of the enormous impact Maharis has had over many decades as an inspirational actor to many of us.
